[23 Musings] IPTV, as well as broadcasting simultaneously (as the BBC has reportedly wanted to do) with terrestrial TV would also allow you to watch programmes after they'd broadcast. Now if the BBC is really serious about IPTV, why would they want to publish to YouTube as well?

Broadband television - not as big as I had thought???

They don’t apply to fully integrated closed services where the service provider provides a set top box and controls the end to end delivery of the service much, as Sky does today (in fact the only difference with Sky would be routing the signal through your broadband connection and maybe your PC instead of via satellite).

New Xbox 360 due for late '07 to handle IPTV?

[Engadget] According to a pre-CES briefing that Windows expert Paul Thurrott received from his Microsoft pals, the big M will be coming out with a new version of the Xbox 360 (Zephyer?) at the end of 2007, which will feature a larger HDD and some new hardware to enable that IPTV functionality Robbie Bach was talking about during the Microsoft CES keynote. It also stands to reason that such a Xbox 360 might be sporting a fancy new HDMI port and perhaps run just a wee bit cooler -- meaning HDCP and less fan noise, natural fits for home theater use.

Xbox 360 getting IPTV?

[My Gadget Info] Details are a little hazy at the moment, but apparently Dean Takahashi over at San Jose Mercury News posted and then quickly pulled a post from his blog about how Robbie Bach and Bill Gates were going to announce that the Xbox 360 will soon be able to double as a set-top box for Internet Protocol Television. Sounds like he may have accidentally included some info that wasn’t supposed to go up until after the big Gatesnote on Sunday evening.

Tiscali Eyes 500,000 IPTV Subscribers
