IPTVision > Cable TV is trying to figure out the new campus model

http://connect.educause.edu [connect.educause.edu | Technology In Academia -- Connect @ EDUCAUSE] We are moving forward with new video distribution services and the technology price has dropped dramatically since we began the process. With the money we saved I can now afford to buy more content, specifically I have been asked to acquire some cable TV channels to multicast on campus.

http://blogs.mobhaile.ie [Blogs.mobhaile.ie] Leo's Blog: Proudly, I pointed out that we were taking an SDI output from the broadcasting system, and using an SDI video capture card and a server we were encoding the signal at 4 MB/sec, and making the channels available on the Internet and on other networks in association with HEAnet at up to 1.2 MB/sec for Webcasting and multicast at 3 MB/sec for MPEG2 IPTV. We are also testing MPEG4 IPTV multicast at 1.2 MB/sec on the Government campus LAN using a composite feed from the television system, and we will test SDI shortly.
