TechZi: At last - after months of waiting, I’ve finally received a Joost beta invite, meaning that I have had chance to test out and run the software on Windows Vista 64-Bit. For those of you that don’t know, at present, there is NO operating system that is less compatible than Vista 64-bit, so you can imagine my surprise to find that the team behind Joost (previously Project Venice) had done a pretty good job at patching version 9.2 up for general Vista consumption. Pain in the Tech: Joost was formerly known as The Venice Project, and deserves your attention because it is the latest software from Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis of Skype and Kazaa. You’d guess correctly if you guessed the developers have leveraged some of their peer-to-peer knowledge and experience from those two applications to help create a high-frame rate, high-resolution television viewing experience in Joost. [Readwriteweb.com] Internet Killed The Television Star: Reviews of Joost, Babelgum ...: Joost is a software product that uses peer-to-peer streaming technology to deliverdata in encrypted packets, which are then cached the way your browser caches web content. The cached content is then sent along to other users. Joost differs from traditional TVin that its content is all 'on demand', meaning you can download and watch video wheneveryou want - not only when its 'on.'
[Franticindustries.com] Joost beta reviewed - TV just got a little smarter ...: The amount of content will grow when Joost goes out of beta invite-only mode, and some big fishes might jump in (currently you can, for example, watch content from MTV, or the famous auto show Fifth Gear) but what I’d actually like to see on it is cheap, independent productions. I hope they introduce a model for people to get their own content up there, because it would bridge the gap between old school TV and YouTube, but I don’t know if this will ever happen.
[Benjaminchristie.com] Joost Beta IPTV from developers of Skype | Benjamin Christie ...: On the Joost website they indicate that when using the application, it will download about 300Mb per hour and upload about 100Mb. What I can say is that video which is being streamed via Media player or similar doesn’t even compare to this app.

[E-consultancy.com] Babelgum launches to rival Joost in IPTV battle | Internet ...: One feature which separates Babelgum from Joost is the 'smart channel' function, which will take note of the types of programmes you are watching and deliver content catered to your interests. This sort of thing will underpin the future of the television advertising industry, which needs - and may receive - a big shot in the arm..
[Glowriaiptv.typepad.com] The Glowria IPTV Blog: "Joost is a new way to watch TV, free of the schedules and restrictionsthat come with traditional television. Combining the best of TV withthe best of the internet, Joostâ gives you more control and freedomthan ever before - control over what you watch, and freedom to watch itwhenever you like."
