[Xbox 360 Fanboy] "Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) features will only be available from the Xbox 360 through a service provider who has deployed Xbox 360 with Microsoft Mediaroom (IPTV) services. [Xbox 360 Fanboy] Rumor: Xbox IPTV may not be so grand | Joystiq: IPTV with the 360 just allows your 360 to function as a remote "settop extender" if you will. A 360 can't do what a normal settop can do (trust me, I design the chips that go into settops so I know a little about how much silicon power is required) but it definitely can receive a stream and decode it, while adding some nifty 360 only functionality such as "talk to your friends over live while watching" or "see what your friend are watching and give them a game invite in the middle".

Among other things, the partnership will see Microsoft's Xbox Live service, which combines on-demand programming content with social TV features, integrated with the BT Vision experience: the companies say that this integration will allow BT customers to access such features as voice chat, the ability to send and receive voice messages, and the ability to access the Xbox Live Marketplace and play Xbox games, all while watching TV.

[Xbox 360 Fanboy] Microsoft planning 360 Ultimate SKU? | Joystiq: Microsoft is one to be out done and paramount just move to HD DVD but the tipping factor that took it over 50% for me is this fact, UT2k? aka UT3 is shipping on bluray for the PS3 and 2 DVDs for the PC so that is the ONLY way I can see it logically having the HDDVD Drive.

[Jerome's TOTs] Bell Canada to offer IPTV with Microsoft Mediaroom | Jerome's TOTs: Presently, no information has been posted on Bell Canada’s about their support for Microsoft Mediaroom.  When contacted, a Bell Canada representative could only say that the launch date for this new service has not yet been determined.
